School Project

Este es nuestro proyecto; que creamos en conjunto, de acuerdo a las necesidades de los alumnos, nos enfocamos más en el lado afectivo de la clase, mas que en ls contenidos propios del Inglés.

Brochure’s creation

Basis:

Students are very used to work in class in the same way everyday, they get bored because of this, so they do not pay attention to classes and make a lot of noise and they get desconcetrated.

Students are very unmotivated to learn english, because teachers tend to follow the same way of teaching every year.

We create this activity, the creation of brochures, in order to motivate students to participate actively in classes in a different way they are used to.

General Objective:

• To create a way to communicate them with their surrounding, through a strategie that make them to participate actively in class.

Utilizar estrategias que permitan iniciar y mantener una comunicación con su entorno de acuerdo a las características de la situación y la intención de la comunicación.

Specific objectives:

• To create and produce messages in english.

• To communicate their own preferences top other people.

• To get in contact, to know about with chilean, foreign and regional celebrations.

• To be able to look for specific information in spanish texts.

Methodology:

Part 1:

• Introduction: Teacher introduces children to chilean celebrations, like Cultural Carnivals, Fiesta de San Pedro, La Tirana, Fiesta de la minga, etc.
At the same time new vocabulary is introduced by teacher, like clothing, date, places, brief descriptions and traditions about celebrations.


* Reading activity: students have to read 4 brief english texts about foreing children talking about their cultural traditions. In this way students reinforce new vocabulary.
* After reading activity: students have to answer () questions about the children they have just read.

Part 2:

Students have to look for information about Valparaiso celebrations. (Puede ser en diarios o revistas que les llevemos) identifying specific information, like places, date, clothing, dances, tradition, food, etc.

Part 3:

Students have to talk about their favourites character, like an actor/actress, an sport/sportperson, an artist, etc.

Part 3:

Brochures creation

Students have to create two brochures.

1) My favourite Valparaiso celebration(s) brochure. In this brochure, writen in english, students have to give the audience information about the celebration they have choose.

Place, date, clothing, pictures, etc.

2) My favourite character’ brochure. Here students have to give us information about their personal character, like an actor, a sportperson or an sport.

Name, age, works, a brief biography, ect.

Tips for students

• Piensa y ponte en el lugar de la persona a quien va dirigido tu folleto, que tenga mayor credibilidad

• Organiza tus ideas (causas/consecuencias)

• Intenta ser muy creativo para que tus mensajes cumplan su función.

• Utiliza imágenes y diseños coloridos, como recurso para llamar la atención del público

• Utiliza distintos recursos de información, ya sea estadística o testimonios para mostrar tu conocimiento sobre el tema.
